I have been informed, that we have sufficient funds to

do so, perhaps His Excellency will allow me

to make that alteration.

I have, to

AUG 26 1848

Royal Engineer's Office, Victoria,

Hongkong, 12th November, 1846.

I have the honor to return to

you

& letter No. 66 Report and Estimate No.7, with 5 Drawings. for a Botanical Church, forwarded to me in your letter of the 9th Instant, requesting me by order of His Excellency the Governor to report

thereon.

I have examined the drawings, and the only suggestion I would beg to offer for consideration, (and which is more a matter of taste), is that the roof I think would be thought

more in keeping with:

the general style of the building, if the trusses were

ornamented, with pointed arches

in

the intervals,

on

a queen-post truss, instead of being ornamented in

the Norman style upon a king post truss

The Hon'ble

Major Caine,

Officer Colonial Secretary.
